Behind the stall, can stand an anxious and nervous creator...
It is normal to wander the lines of stalls at various events, and not spare a thought for the looming stall holders. Why would you consider the artisans, who perch in anticipation of eye contact or engagement? It becomes more about avoiding those awkward interactions, that obligation you may then feel to buy something. Am I right?
Standing on the other side of the stall, can be intimidating and even scary! The prospect of selling your OWN product, something that you may have lovingly and painstakingly created, feels daunting and uncomfortable. It isn't all about the selling, more the self-doubt, the embarrassment of failure, the critique. It takes courage to push through all those negative thoughts, to even set up the stall.
A leap of faith is required to spend time out of your comfort zone.
So, I challenge you, next time you visit an event where artisans are showcasing their work, don't actively avoid eye contact. Instead, engage and show interest, because this can be as valuable as any sales made.
Your words of affirmation or interest in their items, could be the difference between a good and bad day!
